OOC: Character sheet thread here -- I will clean up the old posts after we confirm all of the characters who will be playing, I will be accepting the first five people to contact me, and we will try to start when we have four people.
Standing before you is the city of Mallys, your trusted allies by your side, a feeling of relief washes over you as the city gates welcome you to offer some much needed rest. The granite walls surround the entire city, hugging the buildings inside tightly like a mother holds close a newborn. From the western approach you took, irrigated farmland from the Aldros River covers most of the surrounding area, painting shades of brown and green into the otherwise white, sandy landscape.
The city is bustling and crowded, quite a difference from the Sands of Ronuk to the west, which you had been traveling through. Dimwhisper gulch has paths through the otherwise impossibly navigatable sands. Inside the brown, yellow and white colorations of the stone are contrasted by the brighter shades of red, green and blue from curtains, hangings and signs, to draw your attention to shops, taverns and marketplaces.
The guards greet you as you walk through the city gates, dressed in heavy leathers, studded with metal and with cloaks to cover their head and neck to protect from the beaming rays from the glaring sun above. Judging from the heat amidst the Adran deserts, Mallys’ prosperity resides almost entirely on the existence of that river that flows through town. A sign to your right as you enter shows a short list of folks to be wary of, one of which has a thousand gold bounty on his head, doubled if returned alive; his crimes must be heinous indeed. A woman to the left of you, in a crowd of people shouts loudly enough for you to have heard outside the city walls: “The Golden Scarab in less than an hours time, hear the greatest bard in all of Adra, a legend of legends, the magnificent Donal Selbru of Aldien, all the way from the north!” You can’t quite make her out because of the throng of people surrounding her, but her voice has an Adran dialect for sure.
A guard distracts you just as you could take in all of the following with a question: “Welcome to Mallys, from where do you hail, travelers?”
As he speaks, a man on a horse rides up near you, he is short and it is difficult to discern his race, but his longer legs immediately dismiss the idea that he is dwarven. His beard is visible from under his hood but little else, and his brown, dusty clothing cover most of his body. You do pick out a bit of hardened leather with the occaisonal steel plate.
He nods, looking over your party saying nothing, the guards pay no heed to him, but focus intently on you, awaiting your response to their question.
[OOC: No responses yet, this is the start, very similar to the first attempt, in any case, we'll start posting when we get four people]
