Dunkelberg
You gain 50 experience.
Hint: Experience can be used for several things:
You can increase your bond with a Spirit at a cost, each Spirit costs a different amount. Naturally, each Spirit will impart abilities onto you naturally, but only after certain levels of bonding will it impart further abilities. This growth is usually considered expensive, but linear, as time progresses, the cost does not change. You can increase your own strength and you can select what you want to improve upon. This type of growth is exponential, costing almost no experience at first, but gradually becoming very expensive.
You can acquire level 2 at the cost of 40 EXP. You rest to spend EXP.
Inside of the house you see a pair of figures sitting near a fire. One stands suddenly, raising both his hands. He is thin and sickly, emaciated. He looks at you with his sullen eyes and graying, thin hair and says. "I'm friendly!" beckoning to you.
The other man, who has more vim and youth, looks to you and smiles. "Those were Swarthun," he says softly. "Nasty beasts..." he mutters.
The other man calls out, "We only ask you do not harm us!"

I pause, letting my breath slow as I stare down at the slain beasts, then look at my bloody sword. My hand trembling somewhat, I mutter to myself, "And, whatever happens, never forget to wipe your sword, son of Adam." Kneeling, I clean the blood from my sword on the swarthun's fur, then sheathe it and pick up my pike, turning to Smith. "I've never killed anything bigger than a spider before. I'm not sure I like the feeling." I peer through the windows of the house, looking for the source of the movement, pike ready to catch anything that springs out at me. Heart still pounding in my ears yet, I breathe a raspy sigh. Cupping my right fist in my left hand, I bow my head and offer a short breathless prayer for the departed beasts. "Every creature... may have a soul, but... that does not mean they... can be reasoned with," I hiss softly, glancing over at Cliff as he peers through the windows of the old farmhouse. Or perhaps, a trick...?Stepping behind Cliff as he approaches the open window, I gaze through at the sickly man, wary of any sign of hostility. Seeing no immediate threat, I lower my hand and drop the hammer into a loop on the tunic. The man sitting prone by the fire seems lost in his thoughts, and neither man seems different from the two of us, save only in their apparel. The darkness impedes my sight, however, and so I nod to Cliff and the standing man as I turn to approach the entry portal to the farmhouse.

I approach the entrance to the farmhouse as well, wary of possible ambush. Once inside I speak to the men.
"I have no intention of harming you. What is this place, how did you get here?"

Dunkelberg
The calm man looks to you, "This must be some farm that still stands after the stars fell. There's a parish that way," he points beyond you, "Although it's dangerous I've heard. Not far from here is Dunkelberg, there's a hideout of survivors there... no more than a dozen though. Are you a pilgrim? It looks like you've just awakened."
