2/18/15: If Adam is willing and interested, Zak would like to use some of his emerald windfall to start an alchemy shop "The Emerald Pestle" with Adam as a partner. Adam would find alchemists and herbalists of skill in town and enhance their knowledge with his own, then set them to running the day to day business of making mundane herbal concoctions while he pursued his own research into more advanced formulas. The goal would be to parlay this legitimate business into a front for Zak's criminal activities and have Adam supply Zak with useful poisons/heath potions, while Zak would bring Adam herbs/reagents from more dangerous areas than Adam could normally enter, provide him financial freedom to experiment, and most importantly give him protection from the sort of forced servitude he suffered under Dravil and Barden.

[Insert RP with Kristine at the Temple of Sola in Lohrasmus here]
<Downtime> <:> Upon hearing the news from Kane about the acquisition of land from the elders of the council, Ladius would seem curious about the estate, but ultimately refuses to help with restoring the manor house. Instead, he would sleep outdoors, probably near to the cellar, and during the day he would tend to the land, gathering seeds for plants native to the region (though he'd have little experience with them) and perhaps a plow to till the soil. He would also seek out nearby woods and gather saplings and bushes, transplanting them to the property in a makeshift garden of sorts. This continues until the seeds are sown and the saplings and bushes are successfully planted, roughly around ten days or so, at which point Ladius would saddle his stag and announce that he was traveling to Polianir.

You begin the bartering process and one building in the city seems adequate, a small wooden structure on Stony Lane just across from a baker, not far from the marketplace. Adam requests some of your money to purchase some alembics, mortar and pestle and so forth, as well as a fresh supply of herbs. If there's one thing Lohrasmus isn't known for, it's an excessive amount of plant growth. Adam has the shop running in a few days and medical supplies are in high demand, especially after the most recent events where several guards suffered terrible wounds. The Emerald Pestle is now open for business. You put together a makeshift garden near the plot outside of the city, it grows quickly, despite the ground being somewhat dry. While you're at the Sunlight Shrine, Kristine asks. "Why did you let me live?" in a cold tone. Ladius hesitates but a second, sizing up Kristine in her current state, and responds lightly. "Do you mean to say you are better off dead? If so, please, present yourself to the guards and they would be happy to oblige," he offers flatly, taking stock of changes to her facial expressions as the words sink in. He raises a hand to stop whatever response she begins mustering, "The simple fact is that you are worth more alive than dead. The dead do not change their ways so easily, I'm sure you're aware." Pausing another moment to let his words settle, Ladius continues in a softer tone. "The fact that you are alive is because you chose to lay down your weapon instead of fight, unlike your robed co-conspirator who now shares the same fate you question yourself. The question you should be asking is why you yourself did not wish to die, to which I can only supply the most basic answer of nature: you desired to live." Taking a breath and sighing slightly, Ladius turns his back to Kristine and gazes up at one of the windows in the shrine. "I suppose you want a deeper reason that you came to exist in this state, for what purpose I can scarcely imagine; allow me to supply you with one," he says, raising the volume of his voice almost imperceptibly at the last. Turning to Kristine and folding his arms, he allows his eyes to meet hers as he enunciates clear and cold as freshly formed ice. "Become mine, and pledge yourself to me."

Ladius -
Kristine narrows her eyes at you. "Leave a bandit ring for a cult? I think not. Whatever it is you think you know... it sounds delusional, although you are correct about the dead."

Ladius - Kristine narrows her eyes at you. "Leave a bandit ring for a cult? I think not. Whatever it is you think you know... it sounds delusional, although you are correct about the dead." Ladius sighs and furrows his brow. "I shall put this another way; you are indebted to me. You have several options, of course..." he unfolds his arms and rests them atop his uncarried greataxe. "Suppose I turn you into the guards, as I am inclined by my personal motives; you can then either claim sanctuary and live out the rest of your life here as a servant to a faith you do not believe, you can choose to run away and forever sleep with one eye open lest one come for your bounty, or you can choose to accept your punishment from the guards and die in a most humiliating fashion," he explains quite flatly, keeping his eyes focused on Kristine, "A 'cult' does not differ from a bandit ring by much, and neither can provide you with what you seek. As it happens, I offer you admission for neither." Ladius pauses for a moment to let his speech sink in. "What I am offering you," he continues, taking a hand off of the greataxe, "is a chance for you to find what you seek. If you pledge yourself to me, then my obligation becomes your protection; if you do not, then I am obligated to see you punished for your actions." He extends his hand outward towards Kristine, tilting his head a little to the side as if curious to her response. "Dead people cannot change. These 'cults' and 'rings', they take in living people and turn them into slaves with their codes, rules, doctrines and heirarchies; effectively, they bring living people into their fold and produce only dead ones. True faiths take in the dead and produce living beings, and that, human, is what I offer you." Ladius gestures with his hand once more. "Fate beckons you; you have no allegiance in sanctuary. I have no rules nor doctrines to deceive or control you. I am precisely what you see before you; join me, and we might find what you once sought by joining those Bloodeyes."

Ladius
She scoffs, "What would I be doing, if I helped you? I might take my chances here in this church... you can't watch me forever."

LadiusShe scoffs, "What would I be doing, if I helped you? I might take my chances here in this church... you can't watch me forever." Ladius's eyes narrow. "You would accompany me to Polianir, and, if necessary, carry a message for me," he speaks slowly, careful of his words. "I would ask that you accompany me after that, but I cannot hold you to such a promise, nor would I expect you to uphold such. If, by the time we return, you have not changed your outlook on me, then you are free to go and I will hold my debt repaid." Ladius looks out the windows again, sighs, then extends his hand again. "I won't ask a fourth time. Things are meant to be done in threes, after all."

"Travel with you to Polianir... deliver a message. Fine, are we leaving now?" she asks in an annoyed tone.

Ladius"Travel with you to Polianir... deliver a message. Fine, are we leaving now?" she asks in an annoyed tone. "Shortly," Ladius gives his one word reply before shouldering his axe. "You may remain here, or come with me," he looks over his shoulder at her. "Ten days should be sufficient for the climes to settle in this region. When there is little threat of storms, we'll go." [Ladius will complete his tasks over the next ten days, establishing his garden and then heading to Polianir]

Ladius
After raising your garden, you head out for Polianir and Kristine grudgingly comes along. The way safe for the most part, but you have to leave the road a few times for certain threats and you did dispatch a few others. Arriving at Polianir... the town is as you left it: somewhat standing and busy as per usual.

Ladius sizes up the town and looks to the north briefly, contemplating, before motioning for Kristine to follow him as he heads into the town and begins to sift through the commonfolk.
