"Hmm, I've never heard of an aqueduct. I may find him agreeable, but I tend to prefer more mature of men." She grins and turns her head away towards Frost. "As for Lady Vadnais, I find it a bit peculiar to own that many felines. I do adore my Peppers though. And my new lovely creature, Frost." Looking back to Lord Suffolk, she says, "I have little experience in finances, having had not to be concerned with budgeting."

Looking back to Lord Suffolk, she says, "I have little experience in finances, having had not to be concerned with budgeting." Suffolk nods cheerfully, "Let's go for a ride." He mounts a tall brown stallion, with some assistance, "I can assist you with balancing your budget if need be, I've heard you've acquired a fairly sizable amount of land in the northeast, in Kellryia. Must be overwhelming for a woman your age."

Claire waits for her horse to be saddled and accepts help atop the horse from a groom. "That is very kind of you to offer, my lord. I have a minor lord there who is taking care of Fallsworth Vale for me. It isn't much at the moment, but I foresee it becoming quite lovely." Claire rides out of the stables and asks, "Shall we tour your estate?"

Claire rides out of the stables and asks, "Shall we tour your estate?" Suffolk coughs loudly and nods, "I've been trying to grow olives, they're quite rare and they go fantastic with many a thing. In about a month, the frost will be gone and I'll start up my vineyard as well. I'll show you to it, it isn't much now, though... once again, the frost. I have roughly half the year to harvest all the olives and grapes I can, but it's worth it," coughing again, "My sorry, I'm still recovering from a cold, I've not the constitution I used to. Oh, another matter, my daughter Jocelyn will be at dinner as well."

"I am quite used to the snow and ice. To see it even melt would be something I am not used to. This is such a lovely area; I would love to see the snow melt." After his cough, she suggests, "Should return to the house, my lord? Your cough is much worse outside, and surely this cold dry air isn't helping. I think putting a kettle on the fire and letting it steam would ease your cough."
"Oh? Does she live nearby? What is she like?"

She does live close by, not yet married, but she doesn't like staying with me so I purchased a small house on the outskirts of town for her. She enjoys it, so it keeps me content. She's usually a cheerful lady, I hope she stays that way during her visit..." he ponders, "I do suppose it might be best for us to stay inside." Smiling, "Let us go."

"I can't imagine not wanting to live here with you." Claire smiles and turns Frost towards the house. Claire hides her concern about his daughter.
"I would like very much to have tea privately with you, if you find that agreeable."

Suffolk looks a bit startled, "That is acceptable, I had intended for that, as a matter of fact."
After going inside and retreating to a warm room, sheltered from the frost outside, tea is served. "I almost got the idea you wanted to tell me something, Claire, are my senses still keen or did I falsely assume?"

Claire smiles bashfully, and comes up with a quick explanation. "I have been found out; you are quite observant, my lord. Alfus. May I address you so intimately?" Rising from her chair, she approaches Suffolk and kneels at the side of his chair, her hands resting on the arm rest. She arches her back to give him a lovely view of her bosom.
Her voice softens, but not too quiet for his ears to hear. "I find that I have grown to care for you, my dear Alfus. For I have never known a man so sweet tempered or goodhearted."

Alfus smiles for a short moment, gazing into Claires eyes. He lifts his head, looking away and suddenly his face becomes stern, forgetting Claire's presence, obviously distracted.
A terse feminine voice echoes from the back of the room, "This one's even younger than before, will the next one be nursing still?" The thin-bodied woman has a fur cloak covering his soft white face, blond curls flowing out of the mane. Her blue robe matches her cold blue eyes which harbor a look of enmity and malice.
Turning to a scowl he pushes Claire lightly aside, "Watch your tongue, young lady, I know I was far too lenient with you, but eventually someone will grow tired of you acting like a spoiled brat and they'll do you in. You'd do yourself a favor to learn a lesson in humility, you call this girl a child but you act far less mature."
Cocking her head to the side, "The Whidmoore girl? Surely someone has some daddy issues, maybe she'll let you dress her and take her to the park. Tell me, did you give this one a pony, as well?"
Turning red in the face Suffolk stands and shouts, "That is eno-" but sits down, a coughing fit interrupting his attempt to reprimand the lady.

Claire takes Suffolk's mention of maturity and leads with that, remembering that she is only a guest, though she would like to say many things.
Claire rises to her feet and continues to stand beside Suffolk. "It seems that someone needs educated in the ways of the noble world. Age is of no consequence when families make alliances. The objective is to produce male heirs to inherit, and to produce male heirs, the female tends to be quite young to ensure fertility. Your father needs a male heir, and I intend to -" Claire becomes startled at the statement she just made, but cannot retract it now. Her hand finds Suffolk's and she continues. "I intend to give him the son he very much desires. Surely you must know this, because you are your father's daughter, but for the life I me, I don't see how you have the right to barge into the room amidst a private conversation with such an insubordinate, disrespectful attitude. I would never address my father thus."

Jocelyn recoils visibly, "Your slave-like obedience to authority astounds me, were you as fiercely loyal to your traitorous father? Did you grovel for forgiveness at every failure and wag your tail at every praise y-"
"That's quite enough, Jocelyn Anne Suffolk! Why is it you've come, surely you had more reasons than to harass a house-guest of whom you were unaware."
Jocelyn takes a step back, "I have run out of gold and require more to continue my taxes to stay at my estate."
Lord Suffolk huffs, "You expect more funds and you begin your introduction with that haughty display?"
Jocelyn, "Alternatively, I could return home. Take my old room back? You haven't sold it off, have you?"
Suffolk gazes at the ground, angrily he replies, "Fine, I'll credit you shortly, in the meantime you're not welcome until we have dinner with Lord Vadnias, I trust you can find your way out?"
She smiles devilishly, "Certainly, my lord." She exits.
Suffolk's fists has gone white, his face reddened.

Claire, knowing not to bother an angry man, simply returns to her chair and sips her tea.
