Name one noble in our time. Are you talking about in Star Wars or in real life?

Nobility is defined with the happy titles of doom, usually.
1. the noble class or the body of nobles in a country. 2. (in Britain) the peerage. 3. the state or quality of being noble. 4. nobleness of mind, character, or spirit; exalted moral excellence. 5. grandeur or magnificence. 6. noble birth or rank.
Noble birth or rank? What does noble mean?
1. distinguished by rank or title. 2. pertaining to persons so distinguished. 3. of, belonging to, or constituting a hereditary class that has special social or political status in a country or state; of or pertaining to the aristocracy.
"Titles of nobility exist today in many countries although it is usually associated with present or former monarchies."
"The term originally referred to those who were "known" or "notable" and was applied to the highest social class in pre-modern societies. In the feudal system (in Europe and elsewhere), the nobility were generally those who held a fief, often land and/or office, under vassalage, i.e. in exchange for allegiance and various, mainly military, services to the Monarch and at lower levels to another nobleman. It rapidly came to be seen as a hereditary caste, sometimes associated with a right to bear a hereditary title and, for example in pre-revolutionary France, enjoying fiscal and other privileges. Today, in most countries, "noble status" is a purely honorary dignity that confers no legal privileges"
So, the correct answer is that being noble today pretty much confers nothing besides a fancy title, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. -24601

When it comes to the game, the noble class could reflect either of a couple things. It could mean royalty, like Leia, who was adopted by the Queen of Aldaraan, or Talia of Onderon, someone who has more money than god like the head of the Kuat Corporation of shipbuilders, or just somebody who commands a shitload of respect or fear, like Jabba the Hutt. And no, no Ebon Hawk, that's still in the hands of Davik Kang at this point I believe. And Chris, buy is spelled with a u. You put it between the b and the y

Um, gator.... I was referring to the game, not real life since you mentioned the Ebon Hawk... I failed to see how the connection between the Ebon Hawk and nobles was made... However, I did see the connection between the new Star Wars movies and nobles, since you said... Um... There are nobles for a reason Gator...TO BY AWESOME AMOUNT OF SHIT....MWAHAHAHAHAHA.... Er... I mean to by nice little things that will prove no purpose... >.>.....<.<.... I pity the FOO who doesn't clarify. As far as the other stuff is concerned, thanks for the research, but I was merely pointing out that there are no nobles if you don't recognize them as such, since most of your definitions point to recognition as playing a key factor. And since the majority of people don't recognize noble blood, and instead only see riches, there are rich people and poor people, as per my saying... Anyways, back to my point. Nobles don't exist. There are rich people, and poor people. Case closed. However, your research is appreciated, and will go to making the Hive that much more able to destroy humanity. Chow! -64702

Alright, let's try and keep this more on the Star Wars d20 rather than if nobles still exist/did exist/will exist/eat fire/etc... It's truly not relevant and if one wants to spin a story a certain way, simply one can leave out choice details. I still believe that we didn't land on the moon, there was no world war 2, there are seventeen gods, one of which is a spaghetti monster, and that the Soviet Union is a government conspiracy created by the U.S. Psssh, of course with all of that information, I'm also going to believe that nobility is removed from today's society. Totally.
Back to Star Wars folks, if you want to argue about nobles, go to the general chat inside general chat in the general section of this site and off of Sastre's thread.

... one of which is a spaghetti monster... Just have to dash my dreams... bastard. Anyways, I agree, I am getting way off topic here. Stop doing that, you guys. You know my attention span is equal to that of a fruit fly. Yes, DM, I would like to know when SWD20 is getting started. And if I'm holding it up, let me know post haste. Er, not 'after speed', but ASAP. That will do. Nicely. Yes. Ass. Grab. Meow. -64702

I don't know if you've had a chance to look at my character, Marcos, but let me know if I need to add/change things.

Hey all.
No, this isn't dead. No I haven't forgotten about it. I'm actually getting really close to starting this up. I've just been working. Silently.
I'm still getting through people's backgrounds and discussing things with them, although I'll admit I've been a bit behind my schedule on that. I've proposed a proposition (say that five times fast) for you all however - While I'm trying to fit everyone in comfortably to the situation in a way that they choose and allowed, this makes things difficult and slows down the process, as I have to come up with a reason why their character is where they are, and make sure that's okay with the player. It's much more user friendly, but it also means that it doubles my work, especially with getting in contact with people. I figure a good way to speed things up would be to just throw people where I personally envisioned them to be, but I don't know your characters like you do. So i guess my question is, would people want me to do this, if it means getting to the game quicker, or would you rather spend the time and have everyone in a comfortable situation at the start (And let me f*ck with you later?) This would also mean I'd have to approximate your levels on my perception of your characters, rather than what you've actually done in your storylines.
Also, I'll address another concern a few people have had, or that I've perceived that people have had: The EXP penalties for partying with people of (much) higher levels. I'm going to basically ignore that rule, if not throw it right out the door. As long as an individual is active in combat (AKA, not riding on the big guys' coat tails, but are still contributing in any way they can), you'll get full EXP. For those whom are really behind on the levels (Like the Jedi), they should be receiving bonus EXP to help you catch up. After all, you've got "Teachers" for a reason. Logic wise, it wouldn't make sense for the Jedi to do the master/student system if it only hindered the student's growth.
Okay, I'm hungry and have two papers to write, back to the salt mines.
